For the first time a drive system with a submers-
ible hydraulic power pack was used for operating the Lockgate Himmel-
stadt on the river Main. 		By the application of these water tight compact units, a central oil pressure supply becomes unnec-
essary. These units are attached directly to the gate cylinders - and perhaps later they will even be able to be integrated into the actuator. 		Cylinder functions, such
as rapid response of lock gates and emergency systems in the case of power failure, can be operated by a control block mounted directly
on the cylinder.
